Lesson 3

Build – Who’s It For?

Create real value for real people.

What’s This About?

Even the best idea doesn’t matter if no one needs it. This lesson helps you figure out:

  • Who your idea helps
  • What they actually need
  • Why they would care

When you know your people—you can build something they’ll love.

Your Steps Today:

1. Watch “What’s My Element” video above.

  • Why understanding your user is everything
  • Simple tools to get clear on who you’re helping
  • Real examples of “user-first” thinking

2. Complete the user snapshot

Download the User Snapshot (in your Toolbox). Fill in the basics for one type of user:

  • Name (real or made-up)
  • Age / life situation
  • What they struggle with
  • What they want
  • How your idea helps

Tip: Think of someone you know—or someone like you.

3. Talk to one real person (at least)

This could be:

  • A friend, sibling, classmate, or parent
  • Someone who might need what you’re creating

Ask – ideas for questions, you can design your own interview.

  • “Have you ever felt this problem?”
  • “What would help you?”
  • “Does my idea make sense?”

Your goal: listen, not sell.

What to Submit

  • Your completed User Snapshot
  • A 2–3 sentence insight from your conversation (if you had one)

When you build for real people, you build something that works.

“Fall in love with your user—not just your idea.”
