Now it’s time to connect it all. This lesson helps you write your Why Statement—a sentence or two that explains:
“Why do I care about solving this problem?”
This will become your compass. Your anchor. Your reason to keep going when it gets hard (because it will get hard—and that’s normal).
Your Steps Today:
1. Watch the video above.
Why your “why” is more important than your idea
What makes a great Why Statement
Real examples from young change-makers
2. Write your why statement and reflect before you do so:
Why do I care about the problem I chose?
How does it connect to my life, my story, or someone I know?
What would the world look like if this problem didn’t exist anymore?
WHY STATEMENT format suggestion (you can also create your own)
“I want to solve [problem] because I believe [what you value / want to change].”
Examples:
“I want to reduce school anxiety because I believe every student deserves to feel safe and supported.”
“I want to help teens understand money better because I believe financial freedom should start early.”
3. Bring It All Together

A strong “why” keeps you going when your idea hits roadblocks (and it will).
“When your why is big enough, the how shows up.”
This is the final step in Level 1. You’ve gone from curious to committed. Let’s celebrate.
